ASHA - Association for Social and Human Awareness, Jharkhand
The state of Jharkhand is blessed with natural resources but faces challenges such as domestic violence, unemployment, exploitation, trafficking and child labour. Basic necessities such as livelihood opportunities, health services, education are lacking.
ASHA addresses social issues through awareness, activism and protection of rights of women, children and vulnerable communities. Target groups are women and children, especially those hailing from tribal communities.
ASHA is a non-profit organization registered under the "Indian Trust Act 1882" in the year 2000. ASHA is supported, among others, by the government of the state of Jharkhand. ASHA has been honoured with the "Best Organization for Gender Equality" award by the Martha Farrell Foundation.
Financially, ASHA has an FCRA (Fair Credit Reporting Act) registration for international donations, which assures fair and accurate reporting for non-governmental organizations. For Indian donations, ASHA has a razorpay account.
